The artist and visual designer Juan Urrea (Juan Carlos Urrea Botero) is amaster of design and painting with a long career who was born in Tuluá, Colombia on November 24, 1969. He graduated as a Visual Designer from the University of Caldas in the class of 1997. He also studied Philosophy, Civil Engineering, Plastic Arts and 3D Animation. In 2012 he won an international design award for Pepsi India and a national design award for CIRC Switzerland. It should be noted that in 2015 he received an honorable mention from Mintic for his digital talent and in 2022 he was invited to exhibit his work at ARTBO. Currently (2023) he belongs to the Media Arts Research Seedbed-SIAM of the Plastic Arts Department of the University of Caldas, where he is studying the third semester of the Master of Arts (research-creation) of the VII COHORT.
Juan has been, since 1993, a pioneer of digital art in Colombia and his main hobbies are design, drawing, illustration, painting and photography. His pictorial work is an approach to a synthesis of his studies. This is how from visual design he inherited his passion for the digital world, from engineering his inclination for precision and from philosophy his love for aesthetics. His awards and honors have fueled his current career as an artist. His place of residence is Manizales, Colombia and from there he works as an INDEPENDENT CREATOR (freelance) in his personal art and design studio. Collaborate with companies, institutions and professionals throughout Latin America.
